Layne Christensen Company - Houston, TX leased an oxygen PSA generator system from Gas Systems Corporation for conducting oxygen enrichment tests to determine the effects of pure oxygen for decreasing sludge in wastewater treatment facilities.Oxygen increases the ability of microorganisms to eat the sludge and produce water and carbon dioxide. Air is normally used for this process, but during the hot summer months and during increased sewage production, it becomes a challenge to generate enough oxygen from air to maintain adequate levels of microorganisms. The alternative of not having enough microorganisms is to transport the sludge to an approved disposal site, which is a very expensive proposition.
