Project Summaries

Dakota Prairie RefineryProjectSummaryImageGas Systems Corporation – McKinney, TX has delivered a Nitrogen PSA Generator System to the Dakota Prairie Refinery in Dickinson ND. The nitrogen Generator will supply the refinery’s inert gas requirements for purging and tank blanketing applications as well as provide dry instrument air.

The Dakota Prairie Refinery is the first Greenfield refinery project in the US since the 1970s. It is designed to process 20,000 bpd of Bakken crude oil delivered via pipelines into high quality diesel fuel, naptha, atmospheric bottoms and natural gas liquids. The diesel fuel will be sold entirely in the North Dakota market. Construction began in March 2013 with completion scheduled for late 2014.

EXXONMOBIL – St. John’s, Newfoundland & Labrador

ExxonMobilProjectSummaryImageGas Systems Corporation – McKinney, TX successfully completed construction and witness testing of a large nitrogen membrane generator system for WorleyParsons/ExxonMobil’s Hebron Topsides Project.

Hebron is a large oil field located in the Atlantic Ocean, 350 kilometers southeast of St. John’s, the capital city of Newfoundland and Labrador. The sub-arctic field was first discovered in 1980 and is now estimated to produce more than 700 million barrels of recoverable petroleum.

The Hebron field will be developed as a concrete gravity-based structure (GBS) designed to withstand sea ice, icebergs and meteorological and oceanographic conditions. The GBS structure will store 1.2 million barrels of crude oil and support an integrated topsides deck that includes living quarter modules and facilities to perform drilling and production.

Gas Systems’ skid-mounted Nitrogen Generation System will be located on the topsides deck to supply the facility’s nitrogen and instrument air requirements. The nitrogen generator package has several unique and innovative design features that set it apart from competitive on-site nitrogen generation systems. The $14 billion Hebron investment is co-owned by: ExxonMobil Canada Properties (36%), Chevron Canada Limited (26.7%), Suncor Energy Inc. (22.7%), Statoil Canada Limited (9.7%) and Nalcor Energy (4.9%). ExxonMobil affiliate, ExxonMobil Canada Properties is the operator of the Hebron project.

SterigenicsProjectSummaryImageGas Systems Corporation – McKinney, TX replaced a costly liquid nitrogen (LIN) supply system with an onsite Nitrogen PSA Generator for Sterigenics’ Ontario, California facility. This installation represents the second nitrogen generator that Gas Systems has installed at a Sterigenics facility within the last three years. The total dollar amount realized in this cost savings has been a pleasant surprise to Sterigenics.

Sterigenics, Inc. – Oak Brook, IL is a global supplier of sterilization solutions to the medical device and pharmaceutical industries, using Ethylene Oxide (EO), Gamma and Electron Beam (E-Beam) radiation technology.

East West Company issued Gas Systems a Letter of Credit to purchase a Model O-200HP Oxygen PSA Generator System with a five cylinder filling station and assorted equipment for an Iraqi State Owned company. The US State Department subsidized the purchase of the nitrogen generation system under the Revitalization of Iraq program as an effort to get Iraq back on its feet.

The Layne Christensen Company leased a Gas Systems oxygen PSA generator system in an effort to decrease the volume of sludge generated from strip mall wastewater treatment facilities. The increased oxygen in the wastewater significantly increased aerobic bacterial growth and reduced pungent odor and sludge.
